Lead and Mercury removal filters technical information
The Effects of Mercury and Lead in Water
The presence of mercury and lead in water around the world is an increasingly serious environmental problem due to the high toxicity of these compounds for drinking and irrigation purposes.
Unlike other compounds present in water, mercury and lead cause serious damage to the human nervous system causing damage if the concentrations indicated by the WHO (World Health Organization) are exceeded,
The presence of mercury and metals in water around the world is an increasingly serious environmental problem due to the high toxicity of these compounds for consumption and irrigation.
Generally, water contaminated with heavy metals of this type must be treated by specific equipment to remove mercury from water in order to obtain water suitable for human consumption, irrigation and industrial use.
How to remove mercury and lead from water
To eliminate this type of metals present in drinking water and well water, it is necessary to use specific industrial filtration systems for the treatment of heavy metals in water. For this purpose we have developed industrial water filters with a filter media designed to capture and absorb specific heavy metals such as mercury and lead.
The process to remove mercury and lead from water will consist of filtering the water to allow sufficient contact time (depending on the characteristics of the water and compound to reduce) for the reduction of lead or mercury to the values required by the WHO. For this it is important to obtain a complete water analysis where you can see not only the compounds to be reduced but also other parameters present that may interfere in the water treatment process.
For this purpose, depending on the type of filtration system, it is important to perform a pilot test that can confirm the removal rate of mercury and lead along with the level of interference of the other compounds present in the water.
Operation of mercury filters
Operating parameters of IMA water filters for treatment of heavy metals in water are:
Operation is simple and requires minimal maintenance by the plant operator.
The treatment phases are divided into:
- Adequacy of the water to be treated by regulating the PH and characteristics to favor the elimination of mercury or lead.
- Feeding of the IMA water filters for the process of elimination of lead and mercury obtaining a treated water suitable for consumption.
Water treatment plants for the removal of mercury and lead
The IMA water industrial water filters of this range are manufactured for the different levels of heavy metals in water having two treatment options.
- One-stage filtration systems: After the adequacy of the water to be treated, a solar filtration stage is carried out to remove lead and mercury from the water. Specially designed for treated water with low interference of other compounds.
- Two-stage filtration system: After the adequacy of the water to be treated, two stages of filtration are performed to remove the various heavy metals present in the water. This model is specially designed for high concentration or complex water with high interference from other compounds.
